The aim of this workshop is to offer german university lecturer the opportunity to refine their English language skills in order to teach their academic disciplines in English.

The focus will be on essential presentations techniques, comfortably handling visual aids in the seminar room and strengthening the lexical tools required for giving lectures in English in an academic environment. The workshop is not intended to train participants pedagogical skills, but to develop the ability to apply English to the teaching skills one already has.

Topics

• Presentations (structure, signposting, questions, introductions and conclusions)
• Lexis for describing processes, structures etc.
• The language of analysis and discussion (how to reason professionally and academically)
• Evaluating and grading, critical response
• Writing references
• Vocabulary for university life
• Comparison of UK and German educational systems

The participants should deliver a presentation.

The workload of the workshop is 16 teaching units. 1 teaching unit = 45 min

In case of a cancellation from your part six to ten days before the start of the workshop, you have to pay 50% of the attendance fee. If you cancel later than six days before the workshop, you will be charged the full amount of the attendance fee.
